a beautiful thing
As I drove over point of the mountain into SLC, my eyes spied something WONDERFUL. What has been gray concrete for the past year or so is now a gorgeous blue and yellow building.
After the announcement a year and a half ago, they are getting ready to open their beautiful doors on May 23rd. Blue and yellow have never looked so good.

I drove past it a few weeks ago. I involuntarily squealed and screamed in genuine delight.
ummmm... i hope this was yesterday and you didn't totally diss me by driving by today. i'm kidding, of course: driving by the big blue and yellow is an event unto itself and i would be surprised or blame you if you just took the point o' the mountain drive just to gaze lovingly at it.
ps: we're still on for opening day right? (make sure you save points for meatballs...)
sorry... i WOULDN'T be surprised. huh. so much for that english major thing.
I am excited for you. Our closest Ikea is in Austin about 1 1/2 hours drive. We actually made that drive to go check it out one Saturday. We were dissapointed in the layout. It was a one story Ikea which we had never seen before. It was just a maze to get to everything. I prefer the two story Ikeas that I am used to, where you can go in drop your kids off and then go to the furnishings on one level and the nick nacks on the other level. Maybe I am being to picky but I think next time we will just go to the nice big one in Houston by my brothers house.
Brooke - this WAS on the way to your house when I saw it. And I was talking to Liz on my cell phone and she thought I was going to get in an accident because I yelled "OH MY GOSH!!!" in sheer excitement. And I am totally planning on going with you on opening day, just a day or two before we leave on our little vacation!
I too, am so excited for you guys. I remember the 3 or 4 emails that I sent, begging for an IKEA in UT when we were there. Now of course, I'm spoiled because we are 10 minutes from one and 40 minutes from another. I still love it just as much though. I have a whole system to my IKEA shopping now. I don't know why I like to do it this way, but I always start in the "AS IS" section and work my way backward through the store. I know I must annoy people, but I always find killer deals. I love that store. Happy shopping!
i am beyond excited. like i have no words to describe. see ya there!
Yea! We go there just for the "Manager's Special" meatball plate and lingonberry juice alone! Or buy the frozen bags to make for a yummy Sunday dinner. Soooo good!
hi holly! i'm really having fun commenting back and forth with you. between our two blogs, i feel like i just hung out with you or something. okay. we're totally on for opening day. and what about dino museum? do we still do that?
