the day that evil entered the house

Don't you just love it when you are trying to be good (with your eating) and then someone, out of the goodness of their heart, brings you a treat? Well, last week I was being really good until my Mom's visiting teacher brought this over.

It's called Old Fashioned Buttermilk Cinnamon Streusel Cake, and it tasted even better than it sounds. It was calling my name. And I kept just cutting little slivers, which for me is the worst because usually I think, "Oh, I'm just having a little slice." But then before I know a large portion of the desssert is gone (I'm not alone here, right?).

So, maybe I'm a bad daughter because I made my Mom give it away. I mean, this wasn't even my cake to call the shots on. I feel bad, but I probably would have felt worse if it stayed here and I ate it. Especially considering the fact that for one serving, 1/18th, the cake had 390 calories and 21 grams of fat! For only 1/18th of the cake!!!

By the way, for anyone interested she got it at Costco. Did I mention that one serving was only 1/18th?!

I know exactly what you mean. I thought we had escaped the girl scout cookie madness because we were in San Francisco when the selling started. Caitlin is in Brownies and should have been selling. By the time I finished playing phone tag with the cookie mom the selling was over and I thought I was out of temptations way until her last meeting two weeks ago. They overestimated the boxes and still needed someone to sell the last 6 boxes of thin mints. So I had to take them because we hadn't helped with the sellig at all. One box was just calling my name and Gene and I polished it off in just one night. There are still 5 more boxes out there and I am hoping to sell them at my garage sale on Saturday. Otherwise, I am not responsible for my actions:)

thin mints...yum. my favorite are samoas though. the chocolate & coconut combo are to die for. i'm sure you will be able to get rid of those last few boxes at your garage sale. mark them down to 25 cents if you have to...maybe throw in some red sweater pants to seal the deal.

p.s. i hope you know that i'm joking about the red sweater pants and that we cannot get rid of them NO MATTER WHAT. one of us should probably be buried with them.

Holly and Carol should both be buried wearing one pant leg each of the red sweater pants.

P.S. Samoas all the way!

holly (or dave) whoever took that picture of the cake...you should really consider working for some Martha Stewart magazine or something. It looks so good. And Costco? I'm sold. We love Costco. You might have inspired me to write a blog on our love for Costco.

My heart almost skipped a beat thinking that you'd ever get rid of the sweater pants....They are however in the hands of a mystery person right now, not mine. Carry the torch well-you know who you are.

brooke, thank you for returning to the blogging world. i almost posted about you...calling you back. i just couldn't find any pictures that were recent and that you would like. 99% of my photos are packed away, and what i have out are random shots, like from your wedding and hawaii.

thank you for at least responding to the bon jovi comments. we thought those were pretty funny.

I'm doomed. Even with warnings galore, guess what is in my kitchen, still wrapped up, in a Costco bag? My excuse is that I needed a dessert to take to my mom's tomorrow - I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Just make sure that you only eat 1/18th of it. That's 9 weight watchers points! Yikes.
