our gwenie girl turned two

A few facts about Gwen.

She is obsessed with shoes.

I realize that it is not unique for a toddler to be interested in shoes. However, she not only is constantly wearing someone else's shoes around the house but when she finds a pair that belongs to you, she'll bring them to you and insist that you put them on. Even if you already have some on. She is determined with this task. And there's no explaining to her that you already have some on. If you refuse to participate there is usually some high decibel screams that will ensue.

She also likes to accesorize.

She has been known her mark wherever she goes.

She's creative when it comes to needing a boost.

She often gets into some tight spots.

She's got the hang of Photo Booth.

She is a Daddy's girl, through and through.

She knows how to get dressed up for a party. And while everyone is busy singing, sneaks a taste.

She's also figured out how to get two different birthday parties. And therefore, two cakes.

She aspires to be like her big sister, "Nez." Even if the backpack dwarfs her.

She always remembers to say hello to Maisy when we are at Target. She never forgets and her greeting often lasts for aisles and aisles and grows louder and louder the farther we get. She is such a good friend to Maisy.

We couldn't be more in love with this little blithe spirit,

who also is pretty tenacious at times.

We are so blessed to have her in our family.

we are so grown up

Do you know what this is?

It's the key to our new house!

It's not the key to my heart in case that was your first guess. Dave has that tucked away safely somewhere.

Awww! That was so tender!!

utah state fair

The girls and I went to the State Fair with Grandma & Grandpa Kewish.

We encountered a tough old goat,

a diary cow with attitude,

and a goose that nearly pecked my eyeball out.

Inez was so excited, that she was "crowing about the Utah State Fair."

We found some amazing agriculture,
(four little punkins all in a row)

the sunflower graveyard,

garden fresh tomatoes,
(it took every ounce of energy in my body to keep myself from diving onto the table and devouring every last one of these bad boys)

some crooknecks that got me excited for the fall,

and even some veg with attitude.

If you know me, then you also know of my great affinity for a pumpkin with a great stem,

lovely (at least it once was) summer corn,

a small tray of beauty,

and a rogue carrot.

There was a meltdown (or three or four),

some tractor racing,

(Even Grandpa got in on the action. Being a farmer is his dream job, after all.)

and more crowing about the Utah State Fair. This time it was Grandma and Gwen. They were just too excited to hide it.

THEN.
THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE DAY.
THE PONY RIDE.

Inez was on cloud nine riding the pony, Crystal.

And later a visit to see the horses.
Look at that determination on her face. "I will have a horse someday."

And since they don't live underfoot, I just may consider that. Someday.

You can get cheap horses at the pound, right?

four going on fourteen

A conversation in our home this evening went a little something like this:

me(gushing with pride): Nezzie, tell Grandma why your drawing is cut in half.

inez: Zack couldn't find his drawing at the end of class the other day, so I cut mine in half and shared with him.

grandma k: That was so nice of you Inez!

me: Zach is on of her good friends in preschool, right Nez?

inez: Um, excuse me? He is my BOYFRIEND!

me: Um, excuse me? You cannot have a boyfriend until you are 16 and you can't get married until you are 25, remember?

inez: Uh, I do have a boyfriend and you can't stop me.

me: ...

I was left with my mouth agape, my Mother laughing, and a flash forward of me in ten years with a head full of gray hair.
